River Ministry Update

November 23, 2024 by LFJ Ministries

We formed a small group in our church to assist with our home visitations. There are times when only a few people attend church, and some regular visitors have stopped coming because we do not speak in tongues as some other denominations do. While we do believe in the gift of tongues, it’s not practiced in a way which contradicts the Bible’s teachings. Despite these challenges, we continue pressing forward, knowing that God is in control.

We understand that even the faithful—pastors, missionaries, and others—aren’t exempt from trials. Often, we face discouragement and failure, forgetting to look back and see God’s marvelous works in the past. But our ministry here has already accomplished much, and we’re far from finished. We’re just getting started. As we continue on this path, we trust that God will be with us every step of the way. As the song says, “Never give up, Jesus is coming!”

Home visitations remain a key part of our river ministry, and now we involve the children. Their energy is contagious, lifting our spirits and encouraging us to keep going. One Sabbath afternoon, we spent time outdoors, sharing the book Steps to Christ and praying for anyone who wanted prayer.

Additionally, some people come to our mission base for blood pressure and blood sugar checks. While the village health clinic isn’t far, getting there by paddle boat can be time-consuming, so we are happy to offer this service.
